Broken Souls

Post by Leo » 10-01-2013 20:17

There was a rain storm going on out side, he could hear it, its unrelenting force coming down apon the building . It was so quite at this time of the morning, except for the buzzing for the pitiful bulb set into the ceiling of the cell, it cast a dull light over evering but wolf eyes it was more then enuf.
The black wolf who was awake loved these moments, when he felt he was in his own company, time to think to meditate on the world around him. The distent sound of rain would be lost when the 5th fully awoke. The black wolf missed the feel of rain apone his back. The feeling of having his body and mind cleaned all at the same time. He missed the wild he had only lived in it for a year and a bit, but had done so much with in that short space of time before he had been returned to the 5th, the place were they were to fight their kin to the death, to oblivion. All for a monsters currentsy and glory.

The black wolf opened this eyes, the dead gray eyes that hid what he held inside from the world, sweeped the cages that were around him, three wolves lay asleep. All of them a friend and pack member to the black wolf. Each wolf around him had seen enough horror to last a wolf a life time.
The black wolf look away from them his heart weighed down with worry, he felt like he was bearing there horrors as well as his own, he worried for each of them. Scat for losing him self with in his own madness, George for losing the fighting spirit thanks to his loss and Shade, the young female new to this hell, never known of any of this to to be real, and now being expected to live and fight here.
Triple Eight got to his paws, his powerful body rippling as he did so. His body bore the scars of this place. One ear missing, the other in tatters, slashes and gouges, bits and claws all scars old wounds held but left as reminders of what the humans would call achievements. Then there was the brand, the three eights going down his shoulder one number on top of the other, that had never held, never fixed properly his biggest weakness and a great one at that. He had been here all his life bar the couple of months with his family when he had been born, and the year he had escaped.
He took a drink of water from the metal bowl that was in the corner of the room, then turned to watch his pack mates sleep again. So much had happened since they had arrived to join him in his cell block. Eight twisted his neck cracking it as he did, the wolf cardinal changing sides now looking at them from the other side of the bars, all for a pup, he could almoststill feel her jaw around his neck as she had moved to defend the dog. Then there was the rape that almost took place shade being set apon by a dog known as dice, then stopped by blood another dog, he now seemed to have feeling for shade, which Eight didn’t trust he had seen it to many times before but if it was true then that could still be dangerous for shade distractions from staying alive in the ring and the trouble it could drag her into.
It wouldn’t be long till they would wake to face another days training. Another long painfully day, what terror awaited them this day, eight wondered.

He would be training shade again today he wasn’t sure what the humans would want them to do but he would follow what they set out.

Across the 5th on the other side of the massive complex a wolf and a wolfdog hybrid trotted down a long corridor. SPax the wolf dog in the lead, he was second in command here at the 5th in the canines ranking order and belonged to a human only known as mistress. A cruel and calculating beast that lived to serve his mistress and owner, he enjoyed it hear loved this world that he held such a power in, he had the power of life and death to wolves beast who thought them selfs better then any other living thing. He was showing around a wolf that had recently become broken, that he had found her weakness and exploited it because his mistress wanted her and now she was hers. A new precious asset to her business, the wolf would become more as she learnt there ways, learnt to enjoy her role and the power she would one day earn, learn to serve.
They had woken early so that Spax and this wolf, Cardinal, could go on a tour of the 5th the main parts at lest, Spax needed to show her this to not only teacher what was what and where but to test here willingness, her dedication he would show her some of the darkest reaches of the 5th this morning then, get her do pick out something he and his mistress needed.
“so Cardinal what do you think of your tour so far, you have met Ben, seen the grand entrance were humans come from far and wide, the main hall were humans talk, eat and do business”, his smile was his normal one menacing .
“il show you more as time gos on, the seats were the humans watch your kin fight, more of the out side places, but now i want to show you the more inner workings of this place the belly so to speak”, he had stopped by the door, its heavy steel body stretching up above him, ominous.

The mistress was also awake at this early hour at her laptop she had her own problems, but with some positive points to start her day, a fight that had taken place the following evening had had a bet on it, a bet between herself and another trainer it had been high stakes but she had choice the right wolf and won. She had now gotten her armoured and clawed hand on some much needed money and two new dogs that would now belong to her and do her bidding. She was waiting for them to arrive so she could get a look at them and their mind set.
She looked over at the large window were a pup and a large old husky lay asleep, well the pup any way, the old dog was looking out apon the land. The pup belonged to her new wolf silent song bird, she would hopeful if she proved herself would become her muscle so to speak and a fatefully companion and guard, things were getting treacherous again, the 5th went throw these stages, and she could feel that rocky waters layed ahead. The old husky was a retired dog, had been one of the best in his day, but had gone soft since he had left to run in a sleg team, he had returned though and now was pup sitting, making sure the pup didn’t reck her apartment.
She looked back to her laptop, this day was going to be a long one, she would be entertaining posserbal, high profile betters, to put money on her wolves, she would show them how they were doing well one of them at lest, it was a risky move, on that would pay off or fale and hurt in the midterm.
But failer wasn’t a option to her, never.

Click click click - the sounds of claws against hard, cold stone. Cardinal flicked her ears back and forth, listening to the echos as they traveled up and down the corridor. It was so unnatural here. Only a few days in and she was already feeling the walls close in around her. As if they hadn't already. Here she was, as good as a dog, following the leader like some mangy mutt and not the leader and huntress she really was. They had her in a vice grip, so to speak. The threat of hurting the others - Shade, Eight, John - and taking her surrogate son, Kei, away from her... Not to mention the ever-looming threat of a literally shocking punishment from the collar that hung around her neck... All of it was keeping her here, keeping her cooperative.

Keeping her fangs from slicing open someone's goddamned neck...

She eyed Spax as he led her down the hall, thinking how easily she could get her fangs around him. Inwardly, she growled to herself, remembering that he had the advantage here, the experience. All she had was rage and instinct. Sure, she had been a master of combat outside... but here... She was little more than a pup. A dangerous one, to be sure - the pile of bodies she'd left on the training room floor was enough evidence to that - but still a pup. Spax would be able to overpower - and punish - her more easily than she dared suppose. And even if she did subdue him, what would happen to Kei? Poor little defenseless Kei... with only old John to defend him...
“so Cardinal what do you think of your tour so far, you have met Ben, seen the grand entrance were humans come from far and wide, the main hall were humans talk, eat and do business”, his smile was his normal one menacing.
Cardinal was still deep in thought as he spoke, but when brought back by his voice, she didn't flinch. Instead she just turned her eyes on him, watching that menacing smile and thinking about how much she'd love to wipe it off his face.

"Fascinating," she said, trying to hide the sarcasm in her rasping voice.
“il show you more as time gos on, the seats were the humans watch your kin fight, more of the out side places, but now i want to show you the more inner workings of this place the belly so to speak”, he had stopped by the door, its heavy steel body stretching up above him, ominous.
The red wolf slowed to a stop beside him, looking up at the gleaming steel door with a dark interest. Belly of the beast, eh? Probably something... interesting inside... Her stomach flipped in anticipation. No doubt she didn't have a choice in whether or not they'd go in there... She glanced sideways at Spax, no emotion in her eyes. She didn't know exactly what he was playing at, but she was keen on knowing.

----

Blood, in the meantime, was watching the cheetah his master had procured from the Gambler.

Quite the interesting catch indeed. The thing was black and white instead of the gold and black he'd seen most often from the cats that went through the Facility. It's grey eyes watched his own blood red ones, and the fear was unmistakable. And with good reason. The cat was trapped in a small cage just big enough for him to walk around in, with no way to get out and no way to hide. At least he'd stopped hissing and spitting. Blood hated that sound. Annoying rather than scary. Of course he'd been here for the better part of an hour, just waiting for it to calm down long enough for him to speak to it.

Now that the cat was huddled quietly in the corner farthest from Blood, the albino doberman sighed deeply and began to speak.

"You know, I don't see why you and I can't be friends, kitty."

He let that hang a little, watching the confused look come over the cheetah's face. After a few seconds, he continued.

"My master is good to his... pets. Especially those who serve a purpose. Like you."

The cheetah now sat up, somehow curious, much to Blood's amusement.

"I don't understand... Why am I here? Why- ... Why can't I go home?"

The doberman chuckled slightly, showing his large array of pearly white teeth that matched his coat.

"Because you're an asset, kitty cat. You'll be helping train the dogs. Giving them something to chase. ... Oh don't give me that look. Don't worry. We have ways of getting them to let go once they.. bite you."

The fear spreading across the cheetah's face was priceless. Of course he'd never be hurt. Riesling was too protective of his prizes and tools to let any of them go to waste. Even if this cat was a gift rather than something he'd paid for, Riesling was in no rush to squander his good luck in finding such an expensive animal. The game he would play would be simple. Run away from the doggies and wolves as long as possible. Give them something to chase. Once they caught him, they'd either immediately let go or be in for the shock of their lives.

The cheetah had a collar around his neck now as well, but Blood doubted they'd need to use it.

Even so, he looked over the cat with waning interest. Riesling, the darkest "white knight" in the Facility, had sent his loyal Bloodhound to smooth down his new prize's fur. He wasn't uncooperative at least. Just afraid. Most were in the beginning..

Like Shade...

Mmh...

A little electric shock went down his spine as he remembered her. Last he heard, she was being trained by Triple Eight. That monster of a wolf. Just the thought of him made his blood boil. Not, of course, as much as the thought of Dice did... Gambler's mutt...

If he ever got a hold of that little shit again, Blood would make him regret ever being born... For ever touching Shade...

And, at that note, he figured Dice wasn't finished with Shade just yet... Then again, the girl was quick. And fierce, Blood knew, so long as she kept her head straight and didn't think about the killing part. Besides that, she had Blood, Spax, and most likely that new bitch, Cardinal, all looking out for her safety - all for different reasons. Dice would have a hard time getting to her alone... And yet...

It still nagged at him.

He must have been zoning out as he thought, because the cheetah had gotten a strange, nervous look on his face. Blood cleared his throat and stood up, shaking himself to loosen his muscles back up after having been still for so long. As he did so, a jolt of pain shot up his leg, causing him to flinch visibly. Stupid Dice... Stupid, dumb, fucking asshole... His paw still hurt from the fight they'd had. The split was healing, but for some reason there was another ache. A deeper ache. Like he'd damaged something else... His ears flicked backward in annoyance as he turned his red eyes on the cheetah again.

"What's your name, kitty?"

"... Therius..."

"Yeah? That have a meaning?"

The cat's face screwed up in disgust.

"'Free.'"

This time Bloodhound laughed out loud. What a joke... what irony! Oh he'd like this cat very much... even as he was chasing him down.

"Well, Therius... If you're looking for a new name to match your new life, the master's taken to calling you 'Noir.' I suggest you answer to it from now on. But I'll leave you to your... fine hospitality. Ta ta~"

And with that he left the room, with silence swelling behind him. Later, he'd be in the ring with "Noir." Teaching him what he was supposed to do. Maybe the cheetah would have fun. Most of his kind liked to run and tease. He doubted there would be trouble with this one...

---

Little Kei flicked one of his left ears as a fly buzzed around it. For a few seconds he was unbothered, still sleeping quietly. But the more the fly persisted, the more distressed his expression became, until finally he lifted his head and yawned, shaking out his fluffy neck fur. His little pink eyes flitted about the room, resting on John for only a moment before moving on to the Mistress. The only two things he understood about this human is that first, Mother said she was to be respected, and secondly that she provided food and sometimes - very rarely - tummy rubs.

He stumbled to his feet, bumping into John on the way, and tottered towards the human girl, tongue lolling out of his mouth. He sat near her feet, looking up at her but knowing to keep quiet while she was working. Maybe, just maaaybe he could get a morsel of food out of her. Maaaaybe. He resisted the urge to bark, but wagged his tail back and forth as fast as he could, trying to look cute.

Gambler sat at his table, his gaze upon his dog, Dice.

Bloodhound had messed him up pretty good.

Damn, what had gotten into him? Gambler still didn't understand. Dice and Blood had fought over a young wolf female, who was named ''Dancing Devil'' for as far as he knew. But what could have possessed Dice to fight Bloodhound?
Sure, it was known the two dogs disliked one another. But Blood was higher in rank and Dice knew. He had never openly challenged, let alone FOUGHT a higherranked dog before.... and when it came to bitches, dogs of Dice's rank had more then enough to pick from...

He had seriously considered neutering Dice after this affair. However, Gambler knew Dice would loose his edge if he had him fixed... and thus had decided against it.

But the whole ordeal had cost him. He had given Riesling a special animal to get back in his favour and make amends. A cheetah, to be exact.... and thankfully, Riesling had been content with it. Not that Gambler had expected otherwise; it was a fine specimen...

He sighed and got up; Dice perked his ears and looked at his master.

- ''Stay and guard.'' Gambler commanded, before walking out.

Dice sighed as he watched his master leave.
He had stepped out of line... and not just a little. Many humans had wondered WHY a man like Gambler had decided to pick a mutt as his dog. Because that was what he was... a mutt. The boucheron mix growled softly.
Many humans in the facility either had purebreds, or dogs of high achievements. Practically speaking... Dice was neither.

But it was his sharp mind that had made Gambler decide to pick him....

However, his decision to fight Bloodhound had Gambler badly dissapointed in him, and Dice knew it....

But he would make them all pay. He would hurt Bloodhound where it hurt the most.
Oh yes, he had noticed. Bloodhound seemed to have a soft spot for Shade. Damn bitch... But if he couldn't fuck her, at least he could make sure she would be taken from Bloodhound... taken to a hellhole where she'd die a miserable death...
And with the help of the beautiful Jolene, he was sure to achieve that goal.....

Lily watched down from the hole in the ceiling.
The young female rat watched the earthtoned female wolf, who was still asleep.

After the fight with Dice, where she had been saved at the last minute by Bloodhound, she had had a rest for a while, to recover. Lately, she was trained again and Lily knew she was to be sparred by Triple Eight.
Triple Eight was one of the most scary wolves she had ever seen... a true beast. But she had observed the wolves in this cell... and had noticed that the amazing Eight had taken an unmeant, unwanted liking to his cellmates. He had grown to care....
Lily knew Shade would be save training with him. Eight would look out for her....

It was Shade herself that worried the rat....

The rumbling of the vehicle and the swaying of their ride felt suffocating. Well to some at least.

......

......

"Ahhh! I hate being caged up! I thought the Master knew that," one male voice yelled out in the back of the transport truck.

"Oh shove it will you? You're not in a cage 24/7," another deep male voice said in response.

"Yeah but you're used to it by now," the first voice said.

"Bastard. No one gets used to being caged," the second voice responsed again.

"Oh yeah we--"

"Will you two both shut up?!" a sharp commanding female voice spoke out, cutting the first off and silencing the other.

In the back of the truck stood three cages. And within those three cages were three canines, two dogs and one wolf.

The female, Nyx, was a fierce and intelligent looking Belgian Malinois and Saarloos Wolfhound hybrid. She eyed the two males with her striking golden-brown eyes, successfully returning quietness to the truck.

"Nimrod, shut up and stop complaining. And Roy don't make it worse," Nyx said as she gave the two males a look.

Nimrod, the male that had first spoken, was a good mix of American Pitbull, American Stafford Terrier, Great Dane, and Boxer, bred for hybrid vigor and to get the best traits for a fighting dog. Scarred from his past but with an attitude not matching his large and menacing, physical appearance, he obediantly shut up like Nyx ordered.

Roy, the large Mackenzie Valley Wolf, stared defiantly at the female dog and the two commenced a staring contest.

"You should know I don't like being ordered," he replied in a slight growl.

Nyx was unfazed as she hardened her stare.

"And you should know not to give me a reason to give you an order if you don't like it," she told him, his silence telling her he had no words to retort with. He continued to stare at her until in the end Roy looked away from Nyx sharp eyes. He would not trifle with this female, he learned his lesson....the hard way.

Silence...

"So...where are we going?" Nimrod piped up sheepishly as he looked at Nyx, his superior despite the female's smaller size and younger age.

"It seems the Master lost a bet. With the master of another facility. And as a prize that master gained the rights to us. That was apparently the deal," Nyx answered matter-of-factly and stoicly, as if changing masters didn't really bother her much, which it didn't.

Nimrod looked a bit sad at the fact that they would be leaving the master they had now.
"Do you think this new master will be nice?" he asked.

Roy scoffed at the question and Nimrod scowled at him, but didn't dare open his mouth to start another argument with the large red-colored wolf.

"At least no matter where you two go, you'll still be treated better than I'll be treated," Roy spoke up with his back facing the two dogs.

Nyx rolled her eyes at the antics of the two males.

"I don't know Nimrod, but don't expect anything better than what we've already been through," she answered simply and Nimrod accepted the answer.

She turned to stare at the wolf's backside.

"Roy, you've already lived through a year and a half of this life. Not like another few will make any difference," she added to the wolf and the truth of her words struck home.

All three were in this messed up cycle of torture, death, suffering, and violence and none of them would escape unless they chose death as the option. But none of them were giving up that easily either.

--------------------

They drove for a long while until finally the three felt the truck roll to a stop. Their ears stood erect as they heard the driver get out, slam the door, and started punching the keys to their phone to call.

The driver had the phone to his ear and was calling the Mistress's office. He worked for Nyx and Nimrod's previous owner who had lost the bet to Mistress and thus lost both his top dogs and his best wolf.

(I'm assuming she picked up)

"Delivery to Mistress. I'm here with your goodies. Two dogs and one wolf. Come down and take a look. Oh and I have your money too," he told her and then hung up the phone.

He slipped his phone into his jean's pocket and then walked to the back of the truck.

He pulled open the heavy cloths that acted as curtains and wind breakers to the cargo inside.

The two dogs were sitting up straight and staring at him expectantly. The wolf was laying down and eyeing him.

"Alright you lads, time to meet your new master," he said as he hopped onto the truck bed and walked towards Nyx's cage.

He unlocked it and opened the door.

"Nyx, go outside and wait," he said and Nyx obeyed, leaping out of the truck and then sitting down on the ground and waiting.

He turned to Nimrod and did the same thing.

"Go follow Nyx," he told the larger dog. Nimrod gave him a look and a whine. The driver was the main animal caretaker and he had been good to them.

Nimrod licked the man's hand and in return the man petted his head and scratched behind the dog's cropped ears.

"That's a good boy. Go on now," and Nimrod went, his gait a bit slow and sullen as he joined Nyx outside the truck.

The driver now turned to Roy and eyed the large wolf that had striped markings almost like a tiger.

"The Red Tiger. This is your new home. No telling how they'll treat you. Might not be any different than your last home," he said to the wolf and Roy only let out a breath in response.

He left the wolf in his cage in the truck as he jumped out to stand with the two dogs, waiting for the Mistress' arrival.

Nimrod leaned towards Nyx as he whispered to her.

"Do you think we'll like this new master?"

Nyx shoved him slightly with her shoulder and he returned to his original position as her eyes remained riveted on the door to the new facility.

"Doesn't matter if we like her or not, we have to listen or suffer the consequences," she spoke in a business, no-joke manner to him.

That was the end to Nimrod's questions.
And now they wait.

Triple Eight looked up at the light as the buzzing got louder, the light brightened a sign that it was now morning and time to wake up. He looked down at his pack Scat was on his back legs in the air, George was pressed angst the bars to Shades cage. Up above jack put a gentla paw on to Lilys shoulder a warm smile of his maw.
“What be brothering ya”, he said quickly but quietly.
He stood next to her looking down on the wolves bellow, he then turned to look at Lily, it was bery strange, these collection of wolves had really grabbed some of the rats more so then others. He was on that list him self, he worried for the wolves but it wasn’t the same as eights worry it was a detached worry, he wanted to keep them happy but his main priority was his colony. It was hard for him some times not to get to connected into there lives, he had known triple eight since he was a pup he had always been his favourite wolf , and the wolf always managed to bring together such a intresting mix of wolves, well it had happened twice this pack and the old one.
“are ya worried for them”, he asked Lily.

"Fascinating,"[i/]
Spax could hear the sarcasm in her voice, Well he thought, lets see what she thinks after shes seen this. He would have growled at her for her attitude other wise but he was looking followed to the look on her face after she saw this.
Spax looked at her his smile still on his muzzle, his eyes alight with intrest.
“have you ever wondered were Scat came from?” he asked out of the blue, before she could awesner he turned rear up on his hind legs and put on of his large paws on the door handle, and pushed it down and pushed followed with his body at the same time, this door had no dog flap.
The door opened smoothly and beond was a walk way made of yet more steel, it was attached to the celing. The end of the walk way was hidden in darkness, it looked like if you were to walk into the room you were going to be eaten by it, like a mouth of a demon.
A Sharp stench of filth, blood, death, fear and god knew what eals come from the shadows, it was like the cent of the 5th just amplified. Spax walked throw the door and onto the walk way, the floor of the walk way was wood.
Spax didn’t say a word but once they were both in the door shut throwing them in to a tempary darkness, until there eyes adjusted. Spax again rear onto his hind legs and put his front legs onto the railings so he could look down. He turned to Cardinal his smile still there he gestured with his head for Cardinal to do the same so she could look down into the rooms depths.
At first it was nothing but black, but then very slowly the lights in the room started to glow into life.
Pairs of eyes were looking up at them dotted all over the place, the reflective lenses in there eyes making it look like they were looking down on the night sky, it was unnerving sight, but still the lights grow brighter, and a horrific scene came into view. Hundreds upon hundreds of wolves countless number, layed beneath them.
Male ,Female, young, old all alive, mothers with pup, some clearly in very bad shape, nasty wounds covering the bodys, all living together in a massive space so big it looked like they were looking down on a world. Many of the wolves were awake and looking up at them, their eyes demented, mindless but as they watch more awoke and looked up, growling, laughing, whining.
“You wonder were all the mindless drones you killed came from, what we use to train you and the wolves”, spax said watch cardinals reaction.
“the humans feed them, remove the sick, and they pretty much do the rest, breed, fight, live, we add to there numbers ever now and then but they pretty much look after them selves”, Spax looked back down apon the wolves.
“We call this place the pit”, he said if there was one group of wolves he did pity it was these ones, but he didn’t let it bother him it was none of his concern it was the way things were and he couldn’t care less.
He went back down to all fours and got ready to walk to the other side of the pit along the walk way.
“this is were scat came from, ever now and then a wolf will pop up that has skill and promise scat and his now dead friend killed the wolf they had been thrown in front of to train, so they kept them”, he said calmly.

John looked down coming out of his thoughts with a jolt as he felt the pup moving, but before he could speak he had gotten up and walk over to mistress who was exsorbed in her laptop, he tensed and got to his paws, his joints groaning in protest.
“Kai lad come back here”, he said kindly.
But mistress had looked down at the pup and smiled, reached down and lifted the pup into her lap.
John let out a breath of relief, looks like the mistress for the time being was still found of the little pup.
Mistress indeed was found of him, after all she had carried him around with her wile she had been trying to get silent song bird to want to become hers, reminded her of spax wile he had been a pup. This treatment would last long she wanted this pup to ether fight, or become one of her dogs.
She scratched him on the belly with her normal hand, wile her mutilated and clawed one still typed on the laptop.
Her bracelet rang softly, she had made it her mobile phone to, made things a lot easier.
She smiled as she spoke with the delivery drive then hang up, excellent her new things were finally here, she got to her feet and put the pup down next to john.
“guard”, she said with out looking at the husky.
She put on her jacket and stopped by a locker that stood beside the door, it was rare for her to be without spax when doing business of the natcher any thing could happen. She opened the locker took out three new collars and a dart pistol, she loaded it with a fast acting sleeping drug, but it wore off in a couple of minets.
If she came across any of the good dogs on the way she would bring them with her, but otherwise she was confident in herself to deal with anything that might happen. In no time at all Mistress was opening the front doors onto the drive were a truck and her new beasts stood before her. She didn’t smile as she walked down the steps to the man by the truck, the collars in her normal hand the claw hand free in case she needed to acted.
“good to see he was a man of his word”, she said to the delivery man her eyes cold, her voice hard.
“These dogs they trained” she asked looking them over.
“come, sit”, she said to the dogs in a clear voice that left not doubt in who was in charge.
She opened the metal collars and put one around each dog, the collars were not activated yet, the dogs would know when they were, so when there were locked together they hung lose at their necks.
“don’t move”, she said to the driver as she pulled out her dart gun.
“this isn’t for you”, she said in the same voice that held now doubt in here authority.
She pointed it at the wolf and shot him, the effects were almost instant the wolf would be out cold fo a minet or so. Once he was she reach throw the bars and put the collar around the wolfs neck to, she moved quickly as the wolf would be back on his paws in no time. Then straightened up infront of the delivery man.
“Give your boss my thanks, and tell him to pick wiser next time”, she said with a small smile. Wile she spoke she hit the main button on her bracelet to activate the collars. In that moment all the collars automatically tightened around the canines throats and six small needles sank into the flesh. It would hurt at first but ever collar, that ever dog and wolf wore in the 5th was the same, the needles were what sent the signals into their bodies, once they had been on for a wile they wouldn’t feel them unless they got electrocuted often. She was looking followed to seeing what her new dogs were like what they were made of and the wolf, he looked the part, from what his last master had said he had been fighting already, he was alive but that only said so much she needed to get him into the training ring to see what he was caperbal of.

“have you ever wondered were Scat came from?”
Cardinal's ears perked at this sudden question, and this time she did look over, the curiosity still on her face. Did he mean Scat specifically, or... his kind. The mindless drones that were sent out against her and the other wolves here for them to maim and kill. How many had she already sent to hell? A few, at least... She could still feel their blood on her skin despite the fact that she'd been washed shortly after. Somehow it didn't bother her, killing them... They weren't there anymore, not really. They'd been bodies, nothing more. Whatever had been wolf in them was gone.

The recognition of her indifference to the death of beings that had once been her kind - and her hand in their demise - suddenly made the red wolf feel sick to her stomach. What was happening to her...?

She licked her lips and refused to answer the question. Rhetorical anyway, she supposed. Her eyes looked away and at the door as Spax jumped up and swung them open... A blast of thick, rancid air hit her full in the face, and she craned her neck inward, nose curling up into a silence snarl of disgust. It was the same reek of death that the rest of the Facility had, but amplified tenfold, and lacked the lingering chemical scent. Cardinal resisted the urge to cough, letting the scent fill her lungs over and over, slowly... until she became used to it enough to follow Spax inside, her tail curled ever so slightly beneath her...

The door slammed behind them, and she jumped forward slightly, ears flat against her skull - thankfully enough the pitch darkness hid her nervousness. What godforsaken place was this? It looked, felt, and certainly smelled like Hell itself... Cardinal's claws instinctively tried to grip at the metal beneath her as her wide eyes adjusted to the blackness. Faintly, she saw Spax put his forepaws on the railing beside them, and motion for her to do the same. She hesitated, mistrusting of that malevolent smile she was coming to know him for. After a moment, however, she obeyed, jumping up beside him and gazing down into the open black maw plunging into the darkness below.

As the lights came on, a horrified look came across Cardinal's face, her jaws parted slightly in both awe and disgust.

So many wolves... so many... Males... Mothers... Pups... All their eyes vacant as they looked up at the two above them. Some still had fire, but most were waning... and those whose fire still burned bright had an unmistakably evil glare.

"Gods... What... What IS this...?"
She listened to his words, only paying half attention. Why... Gods, WHY... She could see the wounds on some of them... Some festering and some fresh... The filth was unimaginable... Even some corpses lay on the ground, presumably of wolves that couldn't handle it, ones that the humans hadn't cleaned up yet or hadn't decayed or been... eaten... Cardinal let out a little whining breath at the thought, not caring if Spax heard.
“We call this place the pit”
Cardinal heard him jump down, but she found herself unable to look away from the eyes staring up at her. They all looked so broken...

All the more reason to kill them all...

The thought shocked her back to life, and she pushed herself away from the railing and back to the ground, her own heartbeat roaring in her ears. Gradually she became aware that she was panting, and swallowed to stop herself.

Calm down... Calm down...

Cardinal ground her teeth together, eyes shut tight, trying to rid herself of the images she'd just seen. Slowly her breathing became more even and her heartbeat slowed, muscles becoming looser by the second. When she was calmer, she opened her eyes, looking to Spax with a mixture of fear and loathing, knowing he was likely pleased with himself.

Kei gave a little playful growl as the Mistress picked him up, his tail still wagging happily. As she set him down in her lap, he licked at her hand, wriggling around when she started scratching his belly. Sure, he didn't get any food, but it was comfortable here and tummy rubs were always nice. After a moment he stopped licking and began to watch the laptop as the Mistress typed away on it. The things inside the screen moved around a lot, and Kei found it fascinating. He sat perfectly still, ears perked forward as he watched the screen intently, as if reading what it said.

The thing on the Mistress' wrist made a funny noise then, and Kei flinched and sniffed it curiously before the girl could raise it up to speak into it. The pup thought briefly about gnawing on it to see if it was tasty, but before he could act on that whim he was picked up again and set down next to John, whom he immediately ran to and headbutted in the leg. He wasn't large enough yet to be of any harm, so the force behind the strike was anything but strong. In fact, he was thrown backwards a bit by his own momentum, and he tumbled onto his back, growling in annoyance.

"Owwwwwww...."

The tiny pup snuffled and rolled back to his feet, turning back to the Mistress - but she was already on her way out. Sort of miffed, Kei sat, tilting his head back and forth as the girl left and closed the door behind her. As soon as she was gone, he turned to John and dropped into a play bow, tongue lolling out of his mouth and tail wagging again.

"Is momma still out with Mister Spax, Mister John?"

Before John could answer, a tiny, singsong voice drifted out from somewhere above them.

"Survey says, 'Yes, yes she is.'"

Nina sat on one of the Mistress' cabinets, looking down at Kei with a glint in her red eyes. She smiled as Kei's tail wagged faster at the sight of her, and the rat slowly climbed down to the ground, bracing herself for the barrage of sniffs and licks that she expected would come her way. And they did. The pup pranced toward her, nuzzling her chest with his nose happily.

"Hi Miss Nina~"

The rat giggled and pushed Kei's nose away, patting him on the muzzle as he drew back slightly.

"Well now! Someone's having a good day. And how are you, John?"

(And since you gave me this opportunity, Leo, I'mma have Blood follow the Mistress, haha.)

On his way back to Riesling's quarters, Bloodhound's path crossed his master's as the man rounded a corner. Still wincing slightly as he put weight on his damaged paw, the doberman's tail nevertheless began to wag as he trotted towards Riesling. Today his master was clothed simply enough - white t-shirt (just tight enough to show off his toned chest but not so tight as to be uncomfortable or childish) tucked into black jeans - suggesting that he wasn't doing any business today other than overseeing the training of his dogs and wolves. At the sight of his most loyal friend, Riesling's normally emotionless expression brightened considerably, and he knelt to massage the dog's neck with both hands.

"Did our new friend give you any trouble?"

Blood let out a little purring growl, wagging his tail a little faster, indicating that no, the cheetah hadn't been a problem. Pleased, Riesling's smile grew a little wider and he scratched his dog behind the ears, much to Bloodhound's approval. As the albino shifted his weight, however, he flinched in pain. Slowly, Riesling's expression darkened, and he gently raised Blood's hurt paw, holding it in his palm and rubbing it with his thumb very gently. The split was healing nicely... But the way Blood was walking on it suggested a small sprain. He chuckled darkly, less than pleased. One problem after the other... It wasn't broken, at least. Otherwise the dog wouldn't be walking at all. But this may delay his plans... Maybe.

The sound of footsteps along an adjoining hall caught both of their attentions, and they turned to see the Mistress pass, moving toward the unloading area. That's right... Riesling had heard that she'd won a bet against a rival trainer from another ring, thereby gaining two dogs and a wolf in the process. A smirk crossed the man's face. Not many people bet against that woman and won. He was no exception. When he had first entered into her league he'd bet against her wolves once, in favor of his own. He'd been sorely disappointed with the loss of that particular sum, but moreso the loss of his wolf. He'd been a fine specimen indeed, one of the only main ring fighters Riesling owned. Indeed, that girl trained some vicious warriors... In any case, she didn't seem to notice them as she passed along the junction of the two hallways, which wasn't surprising since Riesling and Blood were around a hundred feet away when she disappeared.

"Hm..."

Riesling let Blood's paw drop back to the floor, scratching behind the dog's ear again absently. The doberman's expression was now intense, watching his master for any sign of decision. He knew Riesling was not a man who liked to be in the dark about things, regardless of whether it was a problem for him or not. Even if the Mistress was his friend (a word he used loosely for her) and ally, Blood doubted Riesling would be content with not knowing what kind of assets she'd just acquired.

After a few long moments, the man stood up, his expression dark again though a small smile had creased his lips.

"Go ahead and go help her out, boy. No doubt Spax is still off with our pretty red queen."

Cameras on collars were wondrous things... Most trainers used them for training purposes, finding flaws in their fighters' tactics or watching for unfair advantages like metal fangs. Riesling liked his to be his little birds, so to speak. It made knowing so much easier.

With that, Riesling headed off in a different direction, leaving Blood to turn and trot down the hallway in the direction the Mistress had been going. He caught up to her within a few minutes, falling into stride beside her with his ears flipped back slightly in submission. As they exited the Facility, Blood inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of the outdoors and the sunlight on his fur. Such moments were to be appreciated in his line of work, but he quickly returned to being alert, sitting beside the Mistress as she conducted her business with a man Blood had never seen before. A few feet away, two dogs sat patiently. He smirked. Another lady, he saw. Not exactly a pretty one, but fair enough. And a working one, too. Briefly he wondered how long it would be until she had males running after her.. and how many would be castrated. Beside her sat a male, some kind of boxer mutt by the looks. Probably some Pit in him too. He looked like he'd been in more than a few encounters... Impressive. A slightly malevolent smile crossed Blood's muzzle and he nodded charitably to them both. If these were to be the Mistress' dogs, perhaps they'd be working closely together in the future... Spax would no doubt have to teach them how things worked around there.

The wolf, however, was more worthy of the doberman's attention. He was strangely colored. Muted tones red tones weren't uncommon around the Facility, but this guy had so many different shades on him Blood couldn't identify exactly how many there were. Stripes too... Ha. That Cardinal girl was in for it if she thought she had the most interesting coat. Now, if this one could fight...

He watched carefully as the Mistress put the collars on the dogs, getting to his feet when the wolf was darted in case there was any fight left in him by the time the cage door opened. When there was none, he sat, watching with some amusement on his face when the collars were activated. It was painful at first, but they'd get used to it. Unless they were disobedient, anyway.

Lily was so in thought, that she hadn't even noticed someone joining her....
Up above jack put a gentla paw on to Lilys shoulder a warm smile of his maw.
“What be brothering ya”, he said quickly but quietly.
He stood next to her looking down on the wolves bellow.
...
“are ya worried for them”, he asked Lily.
Lily felt a paw on her shoulder and looked besides her, expecting anyone of the colony....
Anyone...but Jack.

Instantly, her cheeks flushed red and her eyes widened for a moment, before quickly glancing back down to the wolves.

- ''Oh... Jack.'' She gulped. ''Yes.... I was... thinking.'' She sighed, trying to keep calm. ''It's so odd. Ever since I heard that female sing, I can't help but check in on her from time to time. But the more I watch them, the more I feel that this whole cell is special... that they share something.''
She peeked besides her at him.
''Maybe it's just silly of me... I've seen wolves stick together before, often out of sheer misery. But this seems... something more.''

She turned her eyes down. Jack... listening here to her? Oh dear, he obviously had better things to do then spending time with little old her!

- ''Oh I'm sorry, I'm just rambling... I shouldn't keep you....''

Shade woke up slowly. She could hear Eight move already; she had noticed he was usually the first the awake...
Buzzing of the lights told her it was time to wake up, and with a jawn, she raised to her paws and walked over to her waterbowl, thoughtlessly lapping up the water, water that never really tasted anything like she had ever known... a hint of metallic flavour ruining it all....

But she had other things on her mind.

The dream she had had a while ago was still so fresh on her mind... along with Cardinal's visit to their cells.

Cardinal was a mother now. Maybe not biologically, but a mother none the less. She had gotten a pup and walked the other side of the bars... and in exchange, walked with SPAX.

Eight had considered it the ultimate threatury... and she couldn't blame him. However, she had had mixed feelings about it all.... and she had given Cardinal a chance.

Cardinal... she refused to think she had really turned against them. And then... the pup....

Again, a pang of jealousy hit.

She had dreamed about a pup of her own, a while ago. Just a single pup, needing her... She had called him 'Fax' in her dream....

She shook her head.

This was no place for dreams. And it didn't matter, anyway. No matter how she always longed for contact, how she needed it, she didn't even WANT to bring a pup to this world in this hellhole....

But she knew she was lying to herself.
The desire had risen and wouldn't back down....

She literally shook it off, shaking her fur hard and threw a look at George, a little smile curling around her maw for just a moment... before walking to the bars.

Not long ago, Bloodhound had came to see how she had been after Dice's attack on her. He too had been slightly wounded.

That talk still bothered her.

For the first time, she hadn't growled at him. And for the first time... he had been genuinly caring, not showing off all high-and-mighty.. and to make matters worse... she had touched him. She had pushed her snout against his face, to distract him from Scat's crazy rambling....

She still wasn't sure she had interpreted it all the right way. Surely Blood had just been doing his JOB. Surely he hadn't REALLY cared. She didn't understand why she told herself all that nonsense.....

But she couldn't forget his heroic action. The way he had saved her from being raped, and possibily killed....

It had changed something. But she couldn't say it was a WELCOME change....

He was a dog. A tool of the humans.
And she, she was a wolf. Wild... and determined to get out of here.....

((WOW... that place Spax showed Cardinal... O_O Good thing Dice doesn't know about it. Yet. :P))

Distance footsteps were heard and Nyx's ears twitched as she stared at the door that would open to reveal their new master.

Nimrod was slightly nervous. Although he may look the sight of a scarred veteran warrior, the truth was he had slight brain damage from his past and was prone to unexpected blights of violence. That and he had the personality of a pup almost. But he was still smart and tricky, just pup-like normally.

At the moment the large Pit mix had his tongue hanging out of his mouth and looking around the area, at one point chasing a fly around with his eyes and snapping at it.

Nyx gave him a look and Nimrod looked at her confused.

"What?" he asked and she sighed in slight irritation.

"Try to make a good impression on the new master Nimrod. If you show her that you're a smart and capable dog, then you'll be on her good side. No telling what's her bad side though, but I'd rather not be on it," she told him and Nimrod's eyes widened at the truth as he stuck his tongue back in his mouth and looked alert and serious, which he could pull off quite well because those facial scars looked mighty fierce.

Soon the door opened and out walked a young lady, although it was clear that she gave off an aura of dominance as she strode towards them with purpose and determination. A tall white dog was in her wake.
“good to see he was a man of his word”, she said to the delivery man her eyes cold, her voice hard.
“These dogs they trained” she asked looking them over.
“come, sit”, she said to the dogs in a clear voice that left not doubt in who was in charge.
The driver nodded his head to her as she bent to examine both Nyx and Nimrod.

"I'm the animal caretaker at our place so I know these three well. Nyx, the female, and Nimrod, the scarred male, are both professionally trained dogs who have worked with training wolves and other animals. They've both fought a few battles too. Nyx is the leader of the two dogs and she trains speed although if you pay attention to her fighting style, it's quite unique. Nimrod is for strength training and both of them work well with endurance. The wolf, well he's a story on his own. Got a strong rep in the rings," he spoke to her.

Nyx was staring at the what appeared to be an albino Doberman as the driver was speaking. Large specimen he was, and albinos were quite rare. Yet from what she knew of albinos, they were frail in health so it surprised her that she would find one here in a facility meant for fighting and violence.

But once she heard the new master's command she looked away from the white male and obeyed. Nyx stood and walked to the Mistress to sit in front of her and Nimrod followed suit.

As the Mistress moved to put a silver collar around her neck, Nyx stared suspiciously at the metal thing as it was fastened with an audiable click. She shook her head slightly to get used to the feeling and weight of it.

Nimrod licked his mouth as he looked at the Mistress as she did the same to him, fastening the metal collar and clicking it in place.

As the Mistress moved away from them, Nyx and Nimrod caught sight of the white Doberman again and this time the albino gave them a smile, although it didn't quite reach his eyes. Nyx gave him a respectful nod of her head and Nimrod gave him a slight smile in return. They would get to know each other later.

Roy was watching the entire exchange from his cage, patiently and silently. His eyes narrowed slightly as he saw the lady put metal collars around Nyx and Nimrod's neck.

Strange thing...

He wondered if those were more than just a fashion accessory.

“don’t move”, she said to the driver as she pulled out her dart gun.
“this isn’t for you”, she said in the same voice that held now doubt in here authority.
The driver was nervous for a second as she pointed her gun at him but then knew it was for Roy behind him.

Roy's sharp eyes caught all the movements and prepared himself as the dart was fire and shot into his shoulder. It took a second, but soon his eyes closed as the medication took its effect.

At the sound of the dart gun, Nyx and Nimrod both looked away from the male Doberman to see what had happened. Roy had gotten tranqed.

Out of concern, Nimrod let out a soft whine.

The three of them had been together for a while. Nimrod was in this business since he was born, but a slight mishaps happened and his training was delayed for a few months. But nonetheless he had he most experience working in these parts.

Nyx was only a year and a half years old, and so had only been working here for a shorter amount of time than Nimrod, but the girl was a fast learner and she was bred from two facility dogs. This kind of life was in her blood.

Roy, or Royal as was his true name, came to their facility some time after Nyx had become a young professional. At first he was uncooperative, violent, and pissed off like all the other animals that were brought in for breaking. Soon than anyone expected though, Roy calmed down and got with the program.

Nyx and Nimrod were then assigned to train him and the three became close. "Friends" wouldn't be the correct word to use, but they did look out for each other. Nyx and Nimrod knew Roy was a source of income for their master and thus treated him well. In return, Roy had no bones to pick with the two dogs. Plus the dogs made sure Roy was treated well by the humans too. The top fighter had to be in good condition.

The driver flinched slightly as the Mistress fired the gun at Roy.

"You know that wasn't really necessary. The Red Tiger has been in this business for more than a year. He knows the consequences of disobeying or attacking any humans or dogs. You could have just put the collar around him like the other two," he told her as he felt sympathetic towards the wolf who had been through more tranquilizer darts than he needed.

Soon after a few minutes, Roy opened his eyes and lifted his head, feeling the coldness of the steel around his neck and like Nyx, shook his head to get used to the feeling.

“Give your boss my thanks, and tell him to pick wiser next time”,
The driver spoke up to the Mistress, wanting to let her know Roy's situation so that she would know what kind of wolf she was dealing with.

"I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but if the Boss had picked this wolf, we might have had a different ending. The Red Tiger, that's what we call him. He's a seasoned fighter, been in many fights and obviously came out victorious. He's obediant and cooperative I'll tell you that much. Smart one too, but he's a dangerous one in the ring. Dunno why the Boss didn't use him, he's got a straight winning record and came out with minimal injuries too."

As he was speaking, the Mistress as pressed a button and instantly the three felt needles sinking into their necks, although their fur did help with some cushioning. Nyx flinched at the feeling and Nimrod gave a slight yelp at the surprise. Both dogs were now staring at their collars in surprise.

Roy gave a slight grunt but that was all the indication he gave of the needles. He had a feeling those collars were more than just a sign of ownership. And he was right.

The driver had a conflicted emotion on his face but he didn't say anything as he whistled and a man came out of the passenger side of the truck and went inside the bed to get a lift for Roy's cage.

The driver lifted out a ramp from inside the truck and laid it down at an angle so that the other man, who was now lifting Roy's cage with the lift, could drive down the ramp with the large wolf. Roy caught sight of the white Doberman but turned his attentions to Nyx and Nimrod instead as the driver instructed the man to follow the Mistress with Roy's cage.

"The Boss made a bad decision, and you reap what he sow. Use them well. I can guarantee that all three will not disappoint," the driver called out to the Mistress as he walked over to her with a large metal briefcase.

"This here's your last prize, all $10,000 in cold hard cash," he told her as he held the money out to her.

The man with the lift drove after the lady and Nyx and Nimrod trotted alongside, leaving their old life behind and now beginning this new one. Not really new, but things would change, for better or for worse only time would tell.

The driver had a sad expression on his face as he watched the three walk away. He had been with them for some time now, and he had to say those three were his favorite trio. And now they were gone, because of a stupid bet.

Nimrod and Nyx both turned to look at the caretaker one last time before returning to look ahead. They both glanced and Roy and the three shared a look as they ventured into the new abyss.

Spax watch as the horrar spread over her face, he couldn’t help but smile, why did they always get so worked up by the things they can not help or there concern, but she would be working around this throwing wolves that had crossed lines down there or doing it to get results, spax had even with the help of blood thrown a human down there, that had tryed to poison mistress wolves that had been a intresting day.
He waited patiently for her to get a grip on her self, he had to fight the earg to sneer or make comment on it, he had to remind him self, they were now working together it was no longer him trying to brake her she was broken a dog like him self. So he waited, he guessed that he had been born here so this to him was how life was, but to her who had never seen human creations, or they ways of getting what they wanted, it must be a shock.
Once she had stopped panting and regain her self, he nodded to her and walked on, next was some were that he thought she might find harder to deal with regarding her foundness for the young.
He opened the steel door the same way he did the other but behind this there were stiars leading up, this place was the second deepest part of the building, there was one more level down and he would save that one for another day. He started to tort up the stairs, these were rarly used by the humans as they preferred the lifts, i plus to having four legs.
He was still thinking about how they were now to work together and figered they had to get to no each other better, even get along if they were going to add the mistress in best way posserbal. They got to the top of the stairs and went through a dog flap, throw a store room that smelled of steel, cheep dry meat, and that cleaning liquid the humans used. Then went down another corridor throw a hall then down yet another corridor till he reached the end of that one, he stoped and turned to her again.
“brace yourself”, he said his face serious.
He walked in then stood to the side so she could get a good look as soon as she walked in. small cages loads of them built into the walls, one on top of the other all the way to the ceiling, it smelled clean in here but there was a lot of noise as in each small cage was a wolf puppy, all their eyes showed that they were all there, all afraid all crying for mothers if they were old enough, the older ones didn’t cry just sat at the backs of their cages. In the middle of the large room were tables that were used to examine the pups, scales all sorts of things in there. All the serfices were brushed steel bare and gleaming.
“all the wolves that are not mindless come into these sorts of rooms first, this is where they are checked, looked after till they can move and walk on their own, eat solids”, Spax said not able to keep his smile of his face as he watched her reaction.
“The owned or ..... available come here till there ready to leave or sold, if they grow to big before there sold they go to something called a auction if they don’t sell there they go to the pit, Triple Eight was here, i started life here, your son were here”, he said keeping his voice blank.
There were so many pups all different colours sizes, some clearly were wild others, the more calmer ones had been born in the 5th. Some called to them asking for family, siblings others growled, others just watched.

''Oh...

Jack watched Lily as she spoke thinking on her words. She was right that was for sure, even the Cardinal was still a part of that bond he could see it with shade and in cardinal more then the others, it was interesting.
He looked back down at them watching them, all wake up.
“ye i no what ya mean lass, we will have to watch em see how it unfurls”, he said with a smile.
He had been thinking hard on them and starting to feel the pangs of guilt, he was getting to involved with them and so were his rats well two of them any way, there still wasn’t any harm in Lily Or Nina were doing but it could be dangerous for them if they weren’t carful.
''Oh I'm sorry, I'm just rambling... I shouldn't keep you....''
“na don’t be silly lass ya fine, just watch ya self don’t get inta any trouble”, he said before scampering off to do his days snooping, strange lives they lead in the middle batwen the wolves and dogs trying to keep the dogs happy and talking terms with the wolves.

Triple Eight watched shade as she got up and drank her fill, it was clear something was bothering her no dout, but that could hardly be suprising considering what had happened to her in the past couple of days. So much to deal with, so much to live up to.
“You all right”, Eight said is hard voice braking the silence of the room for the first time that morning.
“looks like you got something on your mind?”, he said his face its normal incomprehensible look.
George and scat woke up slowly as well, well George any way, scat rolled over straight onto his feet shock his head then dived quite litcherly into his water bowl drinking nosily.
George mean wile turn his good face to shade and returned her small smile, it was strange how when he showed his good side, it seemed that there was nothing wrong with his face at all, you would expect the other side to be unmarked. He stretched and the bones in his body clicked.
Triple Eight watched them then turned his attion back onto shade, who to his mind need it more, as she was still new to this.
“how you feeling, body stiff? Ach at all”, he asked wanting to no how her body was, so he had a ider on how to push later, hard, harder or into the ground were the levels he worked on.
Mistress had looked down at blood when she had heard him come into stride beside her, she nodded to him then kept walking on, she and Riesling had a good working relationship going on there dogs helped out each others works, and when there wolves face off it was all kept profesion who ever lost, it was good it was like this as they were using the same wing of the facility, they had their own corridors and equipment but were on the same floor so it worked nicely enuf.

Got a strong rep in the rings,"
Mistress lisened to the Driver while she checked them over without looking at him. She didn’t and wouldn’t take his word for it, she would see for herself what these beasts could do all of them would be tested that day.
“they female has she been breed”, she asked as she walked around the dogs making notes on the males, both of them hadn’t been neutered good.

"You know that wasn't really necessary. The Red Tiger has been in this business for more than a year. He knows the consequences of disobeying or attacking any humans or dogs. You could have just put the collar around him like the other two,"
"I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but if the Boss had picked this wolf, we might have had a different ending. The Red Tiger, that's what we call him. He's a seasoned fighter, been in many fights and obviously came out victorious. He's obedient and cooperative I'll tell you that much. Smart one too, but he's a dangerous one in the ring. Dunno why the Boss didn't use him, he's got a straight winning record and came out with minimal injuries too."

Her face remanded netral but she felt a pang of anger, she didn’t let any worker talk to her like that, this man didn’t know her reputation clearly, if any of her human workers spoke to her like that they would be hell to pay.
She straighed up from putting the wolfs collar on, her face hard and her eyes were ice cold, she was pissed clear for all to see, shame blood would be the only one to stop the warning signs.
“excuse me”, she said her voice calm but fall of danger, her clawed hand twitched she felt the earg to slash him with it, but there was no reason to start a war between her and his boss over this idiot.
“who the fuck are you, delivery boy, you tell me what is or what isn’t nesserys again, and il put you in the ring with this wolf after im done with him, then we will see what happens, see if your wolf is as good as you say he is”, she said in the same calm deadly voice.
She hadn’t gotten this far by sticking her hands into wolves cages espshly wolves she didn’t no, and she didn’t get this far by taking shit from any one.
She hit a button on her braclet to call her second out and her own team out to deal with the wolf.
"The Boss made a bad decision, and you reap what he sow. Use them well. I can guarantee that all three will not disappoint,"
"This here's your last prize, all $10,000 in cold hard cash,"

She looked the briefcase over, took it closed it and turned away from the man and walked towords her second, who was already walking briskly down to them, four other people with him.
“Take the wolf straight to the training ring, i want these dogs given the full once over”.
The old man who was her second nodded briskly, she liked the way he worked and he had been with her since the start, he was the only one who was aloud to speak his apion to her, and delt with most of the normal day to day things for her. He was to the point and professional.
She then handed him the breficase to him as well.
“deposit this into my account, iv got to deal with some clients today”, and with that she walked back into the 5th with out another word to the driver.
Her second looked down at her new dogs and wolf, then to the team around him.
“you heard her, take the wolf the wolf to the training ring you two”, he said pointing at two of the humans.
“you come with me to check the dogs over”, he then turned to the driver and nodded in the same brisk manner then walked towords the 5th as well.
“come”, he said to the dogs in a tone that said that wile mistress wasn’t around he was the next inline

(Sorry for the little wait, guys. Sunday was my brother's birthday and we went out for his "celebration" yesterday. Heh, so tired.)

Still glowering, Cardinal followed Spax down the long metal corridor, ears still ringing with the whines and growls and snarls of those below. The shape of the room made the sounds echo around, amplifying them tenfold. It was like the entire complex was forcing her to accept that it was real, that she hadn't imagined any of it. Her ears flipped backwards, pressing against her skull in an attempt to shut out the noise. It worked, a little, and she was thankful when Spax opened a second door and they began their ascent to a different level.
“brace yourself”, he said his face serious.
Her thankfulness quickly vanished, however, on seeing the next room.

Hundreds of pups in little cages... Most screaming for their mothers.

This time, instead of blind horror, Cardinal was strangely calm. Her ears stayed pressed backwards, trying to drown out the sound. Otherwise her face remained emotionless by some gift of the gods. It was almost like it was so shocking that it wouldn't sink in. Somewhere in her mind she acknowledged that it was all sick, wrong... Pups being dragged away from their mothers so quickly, shoved in these cages when they should be allowed to play and run around...

Not paying attention to Spax, she took a few steps forward along the wall of cages, looking at all the scared little eyes peeking out at her. She kept walking, assuming that Spax would not be far behind. They all seemed to be different ages, ranging from very young to nearly a year old. At some level she noticed that not all of these were pure wolves. Some were hybrids. These ones were usually the quieter pups, and she realized that it was because they had been born here. So... all the others... Were wild?

Ruby...
AND Kei.

Abruptly the red wolf turned to him, seeing the smile but ignoring it.

"Were there any pups brought here when I was...? A red one, like me. Bright orange eyes..."

She dreaded the answer, but she had to know. Spax probably DIDN'T know. She doubted he cared enough to monitor the comings and goings of this room... But maybe he did. Kei was safe now, or as safe as it got in this horrible place, but Ruby...

Gods she hoped Ruby really hadn't been caught...

As the Mistress moved away from them, Nyx and Nimrod caught sight of the white Doberman again and this time the albino gave them a smile, although it didn't quite reach his eyes. Nyx gave him a respectful nod of her head and Nimrod gave him a slight smile in return.
Polite little things.

Blood smirked ever so slightly, a change in expression that wouldn't have been noticed by anyone but those who knew him well. Politeness was an acceptable trait in this compound but not a valuable one. Here, you were respected for what you could do and exactly what lines you crossed and gave others to cross, not by how friendly you were to your peers.
At the sound of the dart gun, Nyx and Nimrod both looked away from the male Doberman to see what had happened. Roy had gotten tranqed.

Out of concern, Nimrod let out a soft whine.
This time Blood tilted his head, thoroughly amused. Really? They both seemed concerned for the welfare of this wolf, which suggested a prior friendship. Though he could understand that, what with Shade... He knew they'd be hard pressed NOT to worry about the wolf here. He had no idea where they came from and what the rules were there, but the Mistress was a hard woman who cared little for the hardships of her property as long as they were strong and profitable in the end. With the exception of a select few, of course...

Sometimes the doberman was thankful that his master looked after all of his wolves and dogs so well. He too was a hard man, but took the comfort and condition of his moneymakers with a little more attention. In some cases it made them more compliant and more eager to please, but those who didn't appreciate the extra mile were treated no different than the Mistress' wolves. Blood didn't mind the small reduction in distance between the treatment of himself and those beneath him. They were all subject to the same brutal training routines as the rest. He'd done them himself, at one point... They had to earn their way, just like he did.

He looked up at the Mistress as she began talking in that dark tone he knew, frowning now. Oh yes, these three would have a lot of earning to do...
“who the fuck are you, delivery boy, you tell me what is or what isn’t nesserys again, and il put you in the ring with this wolf after im done with him, then we will see what happens, see if your wolf is as good as you say he is”, she said in the same calm deadly voice.
Blood turned his attention on the other man and growled menacingly, the fur on his back standing on end. Not that it was needed, with this scary lady, but it helped emphasize the point. Besides, Riesling would have wanted him to make a show of it.

But business went back to normal rather quickly, and the Mistress instructed her second-in-command to take care of the rest of it as she walked back into the Facility. At first, Blood made a move to follow her, but decided to stay and have a nice civil chat with these newbies. Emotionless, he watched the wolf roll away with two humans, then turned his attention on the new dogs, grinning just a little malevolently.

"Well! Tour's leaving, time to go. Welcome to the Fifth Circle, lady and gent."

He motioned for them to follow, waiting for the Mistress' second to lead the way before following him into the building.

(Aannnd Kei had a part too but there was no reply from John, so I'll leave that for next round.)
