fail post IS FAIL Dx;;; ))

As Triple Six saw Freerider look up to him with those beautiful, stunning blue eyes, he felt his own golden ones soften. His maw seemed to feel more relaxed now as a calm smile washed over his face, eyes fluttering all girly-like. He caught it in time though to not 'flutter' too much. It would totally ruin his manliness... He tilted his head as he waited for an answer, taking note that she seemed to have thought of something. It was noted mostly because she was smiling for quite some time now, even if the 'time' was more like a few seconds 'over time'. It was funny how the strangest things was what Triple Six noticed. How long something took it was instantly assumed that something was up. In this particular case, Triple Six was really curious as to why Freerider continued to have that grin on her face.

Without realizing it, since he was waiting 'so long', he opened his maw and let out a yawn that probably equaled that of a lion's roar before smacking his lips lazily together as his tongue finally licked his maw and going over his nose. Blinking, his eyes went from laxidazical to sudden shock and embarrassment. "Er.. I'm.. sorry bout that I uh.. Don't know what came over me.." he commented quietly, ears folded as he looked away rather shamefully. He noticed from the corner of his eye now that she seemed to give him a cocky glance, a puzzled look. He wondered why, but he wouldn't really ask. It wasn't his place, anyways. Watching her eat the meat, his eyes focused on her paws. Now that he was looking, he noticed how.. nice they were. Okay, it was so odd to say that, but he just felt he was fixiated on them for some oddball reason. It wasn't like he had a fetish for paws or anything, he just thought they were cool, especially with the polka dot blue and the cocalico pawpads.

It wasn't until she rose that he felt his body tense a moment from the shock. Mostly because he was unaware that she finished her food. He also hadn't caught her stare as she glanced side to side, trying to see if prissy boy was anywhere in eye range. His gaze met hers when she was on her paws, and he grinned before rising to his own paws. He doubted he'd be missed much. Okay, maybe the pups would miss him for the sole purpose of having him be their lacky, but other than that he didn't really think any other would truly care if he left or not.. Except Sawyer maybe... But that was besides the point.

Smiling, ready for this adventure, his tail gave one short thumping wag. "Okay, let's get a move on." he said, before already heading out, but he didn't go too far. He waited for Freerider. This time he wanted to walk beside her, and never be too up front or too behind.

Free grinned once Six took off, competition flaring in her eyes. So it was a race the male wanted, so be it. Her pace began to quicken, her tongue lapping along the side of her maw, she was about to shift from a swift trot to a steady dash; but saw herself come to a stop. Her eyes returned to their normal feel, though a bit confused, watching the male slowing his own pace down. Her ears flicked lightly, feeling it odd to see a male be so unphased by keeping a lead. A warm smile crossed her face at the thought, what an impressive male he was. Giggling coarsely, she began to trot once more, both keeping an equal pace to one another. There might have been a glance of Alys in the corner of her eye, but she didn’t even bother to look and be sure.

It wasn’t long before the pack lands seem to vanish behind them. Once they bounded up the cliff, they were gone in a flash. Entering the trees lying southbound from the crater, and where the two began their journey. Both wolves seem to keep a gentle stroll alongside one another, Free kept the smile on her face. The shade cooled her fur and the patches of sun were a pleasant treat as they walked. Now that they were alone, she wasn’t o sure what to talk about. Asking about his family and past might not be wise; it was obvious he had lived a hard life so far. Uncomfortably, she looked to the leaves above, eyes jerking about with uncertainty. A thought crossed her mind; he had told her to call him Tank. Looking back at him, allowing only her eyes to shift toward him, spotting the scars upon his skull; maybe not calling him Six might be helpful.

Taking a moment to look about, curious of what to explore, her eyes lay upon the mountain. In the distance she noticed a slope. Though not steep, it was grand enough to keep her interest. Smiling she noticed a slope above the two, and as she squinted her eyes, she could see some flat rocks enclosing the area. Deciding to lead Six up the hill, she shifted her course to begin traveling up the jagged rocks. Looking down, at the wolf below her, she grinned. Pausing a few feet up, she waited for him.

“You coming Tank?” she asked.

Normally one would be sensitive to a wolf with a missing limb, but Free knew better. Six hadn’t survived this long by being pitied, he was strong. Rather than taking it easy for him, she would go about her normal ways and expected him to keep up.

As Triple Six had waited for Free, he was surprised to see how fast she was moving. He didn’t realize, well, either he didn’t realize or he had forgotten how fast Freerider really was when it came down to a race. A challenge, he had thought. It was interesting, indeed. He watched as the distance started to become much more enclosed; she was gaining on him. He was about to move forward again once she’d come a bit closer, but to his own surprise she stopped. Was it because he himself had waited for her? If so, he hadn’t realized she’d actually wait. He figured she would zip past him, that being the response to his invitation of a sudden race competition. Still, as Free came to a halt, and then picked up to a trot, he unintentionally had his tail shortly flicker in a wag. His eyes locked onto her, he felt like they were the only ones that had that as everyone else moved while their eyes were set on each others. It was a nice feeling, and he admitted it both freely and intently.

When Freerider began to meet up with Triple Six on the border line of the pack, Alys had indeed looked her way. He held back a snarl, and it turned into a disappointed and disgusted grimace. This couldn’t be happening. How could that beast have alone time with her? It wasn’t possible. He had to stop it. He was about to go over there, to tell him off somehow, to try and bring her back; but he suddenly realized something. ’If I try to take her back and go with me… she’ll hate me, and my chances of getting this job done will end up being a failure!...’ As much as Alys hated it to give those two time alone, he had to; otherwise his chances of catching her, and Triple Six, would end up becoming a complete disaster and utter failure. Failure could not happen, but he’d be sure to try and catch her later… Scoop her up for the next day before anything else was planned.

---

Continuing their way out of the pack’s main lands, Triple Six never once looked back. He was happily content with seeing what was in front of him, instead of behind. He would only look back if Freerider would happen to be behind him somehow; but he realized that probably wouldn’t happen. Even from the corner of his eyes he knew that she had been walking side by side with him. He only now just seemed to notice things around him. Before, it was always himself. He never would listen in to his surroundings, or ever note what was around him. At the moment they walked through the trees, only few times would the sun radiate down on them during the bald patches of the branches. Every time that would happen, he would feel the split second of fuzzy warmth before it went back to the light cooling. He heard the twigs around them snap every so often, he’d tune into the padding of their feet, rhythmically in time with each other, nothing out of place. He stared straight ahead, even though his thoughts were all around him. For some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to looking at Freerider, at least, not now anyways. It just felt awkward, to be randomly staring at her from time to time. He imagined she’d think he were being weird or something. Little did he realize she had taken a small glance at him, especially at the markings branded across his forehead like a stamp of an overused ‘return letter’.

Realizing that Freerider was now leading them, he kept up with the best pace he could muster. His jagged breaths weren’t of tiredness, it was just the fact that he sometimes (admit tingly) had difficulty with his handicap. Watching her head up the hill, he followed with the best ease he could have. Noticing she was waiting for him, he trudged on ahead to meet her.

”You coming Tank?”

Tank. That name was something he didn't realize she would have said. It almost made him respond with, 'Who are you talking about', but the old nickname made him feel actually... good. It brought back good memories, ones that he liked to keep in tact with him at all times. It made him feel completely sane. Without realizing it, a small smile came across his maw.

He waited to respond once he made it to where she was. “Whaddaya mean ‘am I coming’? I’m already here.” He said rather cockily, before looking on ahead. He noticed how high up they were from the hill now, and glanced downward once they had reached the peak. “…We gunna be heading down that… right…?” he asked. Not that he had any complaints, really. Six wasn’t too sure of how to get down. He realized it was steep, and he was no coward. He just didn’t want to go tumbling. Even he would admit once in a while that some terrain was not an easy task, especially for someone like him with only three useable legs.

Once the bulky male managed to catch up to her, Free simply rolled her eyes with a smile on her face before continuing to scale the mountain. At times, she could feel the earth shift beneath her, pebbles tumbling down the incline, but this didn’t seem to faze her as she kept her eyes glued to the very peak. She could hear the male following in toe; his voice seemed to crack once he spoke. Just as he was asking her about their plans of going back down, a sly smile followed the dare devil stare within her eyes.

“Oh yes…we’ll be heading down sooner than you think.” She replied, her voice laced with a hidden agenda before she bounded forward.

What lie ahead were a few plateau like rocks and a rather smooth slide that reached near the bottom. Going up to the rocks, she began to sniff them out of curiosity. There didn’t appear to be a mark and just the thought of such a dangerous act made her fur rise. Oh what a rush! Barking aloud, she turned to Six and smiled, tongue dangling from her mouth. Oh the adrenaline was pumping, causing her to do a number of circles after her own tail, before giving a playful bark to Six.

“We’re going to ride down in style!” she explained, the last word coming out with a false sense of suave.

The moment that Triple Six had made eye contact with Freerider, he felt color drain from his beaten body. A look of sudden sly and cockyness made Triple Six have to wonder what was going on through her crazy head.

"We'll be heading down sooner than you think." He reminicsed those words a moment before wondering what she meant. Whatever it was, he wasn't liking it the more she pogressed to look around the area. His snout seemed to begin to screw itself like a sour lemon, before he finally came to from her bark.

The look on her face almost made Six chuckle. She had a rather, 'child's play' attitude to it. It almost soothed him, until she started to circle after her own tail. It was so... weird, but the fact that she gave another bark his way made him laugh rather heartily.

"We're going to ride down in style!"

The laughter immediately ended. It was ubrupt, as well as shrunk. With wide eyes looking up, he quickly regained himself before looking at her. "Ride.. down?" he tilted his head a moment before he went past her, and looked down again. He wondered what she meant, before it seemed like he pinpointed what made her so enthusiastic. A few rocks, sturdy, and it looked likie they were ridable...

"Ohhhh no.... She can't be serious...." he thought to himself.

She gave him that playful look again. God it was so cute....Damnit! "She's trying to KILL ME!" he thought to himslf. Don't do it Six, don't do it. He let out a small exhale, before puffing out his chest, and actually smirking. "Let's do it."

The look on Six’s face was priceless, he looked so terrified as she merely grinned. It was dangerous true, but Free never let that stop her, sometimes she forgot the idea of possibly getting hurt; it seemed something she would worry about when it happened. Her tail wagging, she looked at the male as she awaited his answer, though it was a risk Free would never intentially put him in any danger. Slowly her tail stopped wagging; wondering if this had been a good idea. But suddenly, he complied and Free couldn’t sustain another yipp before running toward the rocks.

“Now, what we’ll do is get on top of these flat bed rocks, and slide down the smooth decline. There seems to be bushes below, so we will land safely!” she explained unable to contain her excitement.

Hopping on one of the rocks, she gazed down below, tail whipping around. Oh this should be exciting, get both of their blood rushing. Plus this would help loosen them up a bit; after all if they could do this nothing seemed too complicated. Mainly, she wanted to make Six smile, and so far she had been doing a good job at it. Looking back at him, she lowered her body, back leg posed to hoist her down the edge. “You ready Tank?...Go!” she called out before thrusting herself forward, a joyous howl echoed in her wake.

Triple Six let out a small sigh of relief as Freerider's face brightened as she made her way to the rocks now. He smiled softly before thinking it over. It wouldn't be as bad he'd thought... Heck, it probably would be fun for all he knew. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that it sounded fun instead of life threatening. Heck, he could hardly believe he, Triple Six, Tank, actually feared something like this. Why, he, the devil's pet himself afraid of a little rock slide... preposterous! He snickered to himself as he mulled over his thoughts. This was no problem, it was like taking fresh meat from a pup. His tail flickered as she explained what they would do, as he idly glanced to the rock next to the one Freerider had chosen. It looked slim, a good piece of rock; a nice slab anyways...

His eyes softened as he began to think. He had to wonder why he was so nervous about this before.. Maybe it was because of the large drop below. Hell, when he was in his primer years, he was a stunt devil now wasn't he? Something like this should have been just as thrillfull for him as it was for Freerider. A memory seemed to sneak into the back of his brain during what little moments of freedom were spent... A spark had run through his eyes. He ran beside a beautiful, black colored wolf, both avoiding traps and old enemies that threatened their very lives; more intense than this slab down a mountain side... It was thrilling, it created a blood rush, excitement... lust and craving for adventure. The memory died though afterwards, the spark in his eyes slowly fading before the remaining words of Freerider drowned out the events that followed that he had locked away so long ago.

He looked up to her as she mounted her stone, before trudging over to his own, scrambling aboard. As she had come onto hers, Triple Six did the same. His paws were planted firmly on the slab, claws retracting every so often to make sure he held balance as his tail stood out, erect, the tuffs of hair slowly moving due to the flow of a small, brisk breeze. He dared not look down... Triple Six took a glance toward Freerider. She looked ready as ever, and he then looked back again. Something about this made his heart pound... he only hoped it was a good pounding feeling.

"You ready Tank?...Go!"

The command was simple. He watched as she thrust herself forward as the slab moved so easily before she became a whirl of brown, white, green, and dark browns from the slab. Wasting no time in order to follow, he pressed himself forward as wind already came at him. His howl seemed more stiff, before it turned into a small excited bark. The wind that blew towards him made him feel uplifted, almost as if this slab flew on air. The more they went, the more he felt the adrenaline pumping, getting him into the mood, making him ready for what was ahead of him... Bringing him back to the days where he could know what would happen without even planning... back to those days...

It only took a split second for his notch to suddenly become rough. One split second, and suddenly Triple Six had become unbalanced. He had leaned forward too much, and it had made him almost trip over his front leg. Finding balance, Triple Six could feel his body burn with sudden half fright as he moved back, and ended up sitting on his rump. With the wind blowing intensely, he saw himself coming towards Freerider's slab, but in turn the adventurous spark turned into a shrieking howl as he passed her by, clutching onto the slab with his claws as best he could, screaming for his life.

Down, down, down he went, screaming as he did so. Once he had reached the bottom, the slab made an instant hault before Triple Six found himself hurled into the bushes, legs up in the air, twitching as he received a mountain full of dirt up his nose and in his mouth. Groaning, his body shifted before he let out snorts and spews of dirt before sitting down, and rubbing his nose with his stump, getting dirt and slime out as best he could.

"Moon's sake..." he stammered. He was NOT ever going to do something like that again.

Frees howl broke into many yippy cheers as the rock slid down the polished rock. Her fur whipped violently against the wind as she focused on the lush trees below. She never realized how far up they were until she was staring at it in the face, her rock rushing toward the base of the mountain before. For a moment, she closed her eyes, allowing the sensation to pool over her skin, itching to her very core; she felt free. When she opened her eyes, she spotted the rugged brown male beside her, letting out a careful howl. She couldn’t help but laugh and it only seemed to add to her delight as he barked playfully. Her eyes met with his, and words didn’t need to be spoken at that moment; that was something new to Free.

As the terrain coarsened Freerider smirked and leaned forward. Her eyes glaring daggers into the nothingness, objectifying it as the sense fear; Free refused to let it win her over. The adrenaline pumped through her with every intense thrust her heart made, pulsing throughout her body. Succumbing to the high, she closed her eyes once more and allowed the numbing sensation to consume her. Faintly, she heard Six, who on the other hand seemed to give into the natural fear of such an action. Free allowed him to cry to his heart’s content, which is until she felt an odd shift in the mountain. Opening her eyes, the next thing she saw was her companion flying through the air. Both he and the rock seemed to crash on cue, as the rock tumbled on its side, Six landed face first into the shrubs; not how she pictured this ending.

With a twist of her body, the rock rotated with her as they came to the nick in the road. As her rock hit this ending, her body leaped from it before the crash, bracing her for landing on all fours. Once she was on her feet she rushed over to the male. “Tank! You alright over there?!” she called out as his hind quarters flopped with the force of gravity, plopping to the ground. His paw brushed dirt and leaves from his maw as she glanced at him curiously, though once he seemed out of harm’s way; she let out an amused chuckle. Her body now reflected an amused and cocky disposition as she approached the rough looking, but far more amusing wolf. “The ride a bit too rough for you there?” Free asked with a smirk, her paw gracefully brushing against his head to brush off a clutter of brush. “Well, you did well for your first attempt at it, we can always work on the landing, riding is the only fun part anyway.” She explained.

She had to admit though, Six attempted something he never had before, and it was admirable. He was such a sweetie deep down, and those yellow eyes always seemed to capture her in some odd grip. He was so wolf-like…it made her fur twitch with a gleeful delight at the wild aura of the male. Clearing her throat, she smirked as she trotted toward the forest. “Well then, you could use a drink after that. Let’s head toward the lake, there’s this awesome waterfall around there as well.” She explained. True, Alys had showed her the waterfall, but she had found some other quirks during a private night that she had snuck out of the pack territory. Her mind pulled to the ideas of showing Six what she discovered, she slowed her pace as she walked along with Six.

As Triple Six had been getting the last remains of dirt and scum out of his system, his ear had perked as the rock's movement came to a smooth stop, the rough etched sounds became nothing but loose puffs of dust before he quickly brushed out the guck and glanced her way. "Yeah, I-" he paused, his maw coming to a rather unamused pout, with eyebrows narrowing. Was she actually laughing at him? It was a quiet, quick chuckle, but it was enough to make his ears press a bit against his head. Laughing at a wolf's fall was one thing, but laughing after a sudden fall to Triple Six was a big blow to his pride. He couldn't get the girly squeal out of his mind afterwards, although it probably was just a shout. To Triple Six, any scream was quite girly and un-masculine. His tail was rather erect now as he shoved his maw up to the air before shrugging his shoulders casually. "It wasn't rough." he said stiffly. "I just lost footing was all." he said, looking down to look at her again then. It was more like he had his head in the clouds, but he wasn't about to admit that. He still looked pretty pissed, but when her paw brushed against the top of his head, he closed his eyes as a few pieces of remaining things fell off. His nose crinkled, and he sneezed as she commented that it was a good start, but pretty much could be improved.

His eyes reopened before fluttering a moment, and he stared a bit cross. Work on the landing? They were going to do it AGAIN? Oh no, he wasn't about to go doing something like that again. He was lucky he didn't break his neck! Moon's sake, he figured if he couldn't maintain balance, then the next time he'd fall it'd be death's road. He was about to ask if they were suppose to go at it again, but realized if he put ideas in her head they might as well try another frenzic round. Keeping his mouth shut, he finally got up on all threes before shaking his fur, little pieces of final dust rising to the sky before he sniffed once and watched her go on toward the forest. She mentioned getting a drink, which Triple Six perked up on. Drink... yeah, right. It was more like getting a bath. He trudged after her as he listened to Freerider, mentioning about a waterfall. "They're dangerous." he blurted out. It was a fun thing to say, dangerous. Hell, Triple Six felt like everything in his life was dangerous... Okay, scratch that, not everything. Maybe it was more like he felt he was a danger to everyone else, and it had proven true.. up until this point, anyways.

He glanced up to Freerider as she slowed to walk beside him. It was nice to have a companion to walk alongside with. Although he noticed that he himself was out of synch with her pace. It slightly annoyed him that he had to be so lump like in his walk, all because he didn't have a leg. He pretty much regretted the reasons why he tore it off in the first place... Sighing, he let it wriggle a moment in slight anger before he looked to Freerider. "...So.. what's that waterfall you were talkin' about...?" he asked quietly then.

As the two walked, she smiled at the male. Her eyes never once lay upon his numb of a leg. That didn’t matter to her, she knew what the male was capable of, a missing limb didn’t hinder him as much as one would think. Her tongue brushed her lips in longing, of the water, but thinking of what other idea that crossed her mind caused her ears to fall back, she really had been thinking of the drink. But his comment of the waterfalls made her let out a boisterous laugh. “Aww, little Tank afraid of the wa-wa?” she asked mockingly. “And here I thought you could handle it after our mountain surfing.” She barked jokingly. She wasn’t intentionally trying to make Six feel as small as a pup, but she just couldn’t help herself against her sarcastic tongue.

Eventually she would convince him to have some more fun. In the meantime, they would just enjoy the walk. Then Six asked her about the waterfall, her eyes left his to look at the sky. Surely mentioning Alys would make this whole thing less enjoyable, but she wasn’t willing to withhold the truth from him, it didn’t seem right. “Um…Alys showed me?” she answered honestly. It made her stomach turn though, worried Six would get all pissy at the idea of visiting the waterfall, but she didn’t want to ruin the surprise she held as well. Her pace was a bit more awkward, hoping she didn’t just ruin her time with Six. Then, a rumble echoed in her gut, great and now she was hungry.

Looking around, she wondered what she could eat. There didn’t seem to be any meat around, not even a trace of a hare that had past. Growling to herself, she became irritated at the thought of not having food. Sniffing the air around her, she searched for a scent of anything she would find edible. Finally, a cluster of green caught her eye, mm, a pear tree. There were so many she could taste the saliva in her mouth collecting. Panting, she allowed it to drip from her tongue as she approached the tree. The fruit looked just right for the picking, so she would get her and Six some. Turning to Six she smirked, “Now I hope you wont be afraid of choking, if not I will get us some pears…I’m hungry.” She stated.

Crouching lower, she smirked up at the tree and without hearing anything Six said, she dashed toward the tree. Just before colliding with it, she leaped and sunk her claws into the grooves of the bark. With her force, she soared up toward the branches, not once letting gravity and her canine like anatomy hold her back from the logic of dogs not being able to reach such heights. Of course surely if she slowed down she would fall, which was all the reason to not slow down. As soon as her feet hit the branches, her body relaxed and her stiff posture melted into something of grace. Leaves fell from the disturbed branch and rained down from above. Leaning her head up, she began to pluck the pears from the tree before letting them fall to the ground; bruises wouldn’t matter since she planned on eating them soon anyway.
