THAT. I can totally relate to that! They normally give young people (i.e. people under 16-18 years old) the choice at my surgery as to whether or not they want it taken from their hand or their elbow. Where possible, I always opt for my hand. I HATE people touching my elbow, or my throat, or my eyes. I especially can't watch shows/films where people are having those body parts damaged/cut/whatever as I freak out.Nakisha wrote:I hate anyone touching the pit of my elbow at ANY time. It's extremely sensitive, I even shudder when someone just touches me there. So let alone someone touching to find the vein and then putting their needle in there.
And no gel? That's pretty cruel. But then maybe we English are just wusses.
I get the shot thing too. I normally laugh during jabs, but blood tests I have to look away (I am especially grateful for the gel, even if my arm is useless afterwards). My dad is diabetic, so he has to inject himself several times a day in various parts of the body, but even he hates his blood being taken. I think it's just the whole needle-in-the-vein thing that get's people.
