What was in there?
Curiousity was a lot stronger then common sense; he wanted to see for himself. It had to be something bad... sure. But not dangerous, or Pred wouldn't have returned in such a calm state...
He just made one step in that direction, when Leo screamed out as Pred cleaned his wound. His ears perked as he looked over his shoulder, and he smiled slightly as he shook his head. Ouchie-oochie.
Durango grinned and grabbed the held out paw in a firm grip. ''Yeah, glad to help.'' He added a slight wag of his tail; he already respected this guy. It seemed to him that this hare was a lot more then he seemed... a lot more indeed. And, without a doubt, he was much more experienced. Maybe he could learn from him...“thanks for helping him, Durango was it”, he held out a paw for him to shake, he was use to predator speshies being assholes to him as he was herbivore so it didn’t matter to him if he didn’t.
He then watched Dominic out of sheer curiousity as he warmed his claw, and then pressed it against the wound. The smell of burning flesh rose up; it was unpleasant, to say the least. But the treatment was succesful... and Durango couldn't help but admire the dragon for his skill. It would at least keep that wound from bleeding... and, after being cleaned, the chances of infection would be limited. A very wise decision. But it was always said dragon's where wise... so he shouldn't have been too surprised.
Yet, he knew little about the dragons, or their past. He just knew that everyone admired them, and that some seemed to dislike or even hate them.
To Durango, it was all the same. Predators, prey, dragons... they where all in the same boat, in the same army. And, the way things looked now, they would need one another. He knew that some of his species thought differently, but that wasn't his problem.
He also knew that especially big cats had a bit of a tendancy to disrespect many of the other species, including wolves. Big cats where fysically strong, combined with agility and flexibility. It wasn't just a coincedence that the general on the last base had been a tiger...
Still, to Durango, respect had to be earned. The general would probably remember him forever... after he had succesfully stolen his lunch.
He turned his attention back to the house. Everyone seemed to be looking at Leo....
Then, maybe now...
Again, the took a few steps in the direction of the house. But before he could truly sneak off, he heard Dominic's voice.
Durango's ears perked right away; one ear turned in the direction where Dominic seemed to be looking."... Did you hear that?"
Yes... he DID hear that.
Danger...? His ear flickered. No... it was different...
Cries.
Judging from the depth of the voice, it was a woman crying for help. But the sound was muffled, and then again; males in terror or in horrible pains where known to raise their voice so much that it was hard to tell male or female apart. It could be anyone... friend or foe.
For a moment, Durango forgot about his plan to see what was inside that house... and followed his ears.
He took a few steps towards the house where the screaming came from. The sound continued; someone needed help.
- ''Let's go.'' Durango simply stated. He then looked over his shoulder at Leo. ''Somebody needs to stay here, look after him... the rest of us better check it out. Sounds like someone is in trouble.''
And without further hesitation, he was already off, dissapearing inside. He expected at least one or two to follow....
Well, one thing was certain; he was brave. Or stupid. Or both.
Inside, he quickly found the source of the sound. A big closet, the doors still closed, and probably locked. He stepped right at it; he didn't believe it to be a trap.
But as bold as his action seemed; Durango's ears kept turning, trying to pick up any sound of enemies hiding, moving.... He was cautious; his hand hung right above his rifle. But he didn't hesitate, and didn't loose any time.
As he came close to the closet, his nose twitched. So many scents here... but he was trying to filter the scent he needed.
Suddenly, he perked his ears again, with a bit of a surprised look on his face, as he stood right in front of the closet.
- ''I smell fowl.''
(Note; ''Yes Durango, you sure do.'' )
